A favorite summer family tradition is to read our collection of 4th of July Books!
One of my favorite mom traditions is rotating children’s books for each season and holiday. My boys look forward to this transition every few months.
We keep our seasonal reads in a little book nook in our home - just a few wall mounted shelves to give us a dedicated space to feature seasonal.I love watching them run over to check what’s “new,” even if it’s the same beloved favorites from last year!
Our 4th of July collection is a mix of fun and festive books, while others introduce conversations about history, gratitude, and nurturing community.

Books about the American Flag
F is For Flag - This is a perfect book for young kids! It talks about how our flag is
a symbol of unity, a sign of welcome, and a reminder that-in good times and in bad-everyone in our country is part of one great big family
This if My Flag - Such a great book to learn the basics of the American Flag. My 7 & 9 year old love quizzing each other with the quick section in the back!
Our Flag Was Still There - We love this book. The illustrations are incredible and the story of our flag, the incredible people behind it and the inspiration behind the National Anthem - The Star-Spangled Banner.
The Star Spangled Banner -
I highly recommend this book! These illustrations are so historical and amazing too! The words of the book are The Star Spangled Banner. The back of the book contains the printed music, additional versus, a picture of the original poem by Francis Scott Key and history of the flag and how it traveled through history.

Lady Liberty's Holiday - This one is SO fun! It's my 9-year old's favorite! The Statue of Liberty is feeling a little blue, despite being green. As much as she loves welcoming people to America, standing still for over a hundred years has left her with a stiff neck, aching arms, and a cramp in her leg. This lady could use a vacation! Blue Sky White Stars - Beautiful paintings and simple words celebrate the iconic imagery of our nation.
